About

Professional Organizer and Move Manager, Lois Wendte

Hello!

I'm Lois, owner of Spoonful of Sugar Organizing.

For as long as I can remember, "getting organized" has been one of my very favorite things to do.  As a child and through college, I put a lot of time and energy into the little things.  I’m sure I spent way more time arranging the text books in the optimal order on my dorm room shelf than I did actually reading them!

I graduated from the University of London, England with a degree in History and the certainty that I should steer clear of any career that involved writing long essays or contemplating the complexities of early 20th century economic policy!  So instead, I embarked upon a career in Administration, where I could put my love of organization and attention to detail to good use.

This career took me from coordinating the temps desk at a fast-paced London staffing agency, to assisting the Head of Human Resources at a Houston-based restaurant company.  Here, I managed the corporate relocation program and planned company-wide conferences and events.  Over time, I became more involved in HR duties, which led me to a new role as Benefits Manager, administering health and retirement plans for hundreds of employees.

These roles - along with life experiences such as home ownership, a natural disaster (Houston's Hurricane Harvey floods), marriage, and parenthood (children are lovely, but very messy!) - taught me a few things:

  • The days move fast, and the occasional bit of chaos is inevitable.  Getting organized is not so much about creating the perfect plan or living space frozen in time, but rather developing systems to quickly and efficiently manage whatever life throws at you.

  •  The big picture is every bit as important as the details.  It’s a bit like doing a puzzle.  If you know what the picture is before you start putting the pieces together, you can more quickly find and place the piece you need.

  • There is no single "right" way to do anything.  Everybody thinks, and works, differently.  It's fun to experiement and figure out what works for you, while letting go of what doesn't.

I started Spoonful of Sugar Organizing in 2021 as a way to have more flexibility in my own life, while still enjoying the benefits of working hard at something I genuinely like to do.  Plus, I love helping others to achieve more calm and order in their lives.  (In my opinion, a good organize is every bit as therapeutic as a day at the spa!)

I would love to work with you, and look forward to helping you achieve your organizing goals.

Lois
